The German car maker Volkswagen (VW) will invest 250 million euros to enter a landmark production in Malaysia next year.
The company said yesterday it will begin manufacturing its Passat sedan in the country since late 2011, adding another signature models to the production center in 2012.
Volkswagen has set in the Asian market one of his references to meet its goal of becoming the first global automotive manufacturer in 2018, ahead of Toyota and with an annual turnover of 10 million cars.
With 6.3 million units sold in the globe last year, the company spent 12,700 million euros in purchases in Asia in 2009, up 58% over the previous year. Europe alone accounted for more investment in the form of purchases Asia.
